Those who are faint of heart, look away now!
Here’s our nine most scary venues in London
The Asylum
A venue known as “The Asylum” is always going to be eerie. A grade II listed building, this chapel has beautifully distressed interiors and original stained-glass windows which would provide a memorable backdrop for a range of events. If its creaking walls could talk we’re sure they’d a tale or two to set your hair on end.
Wiltons Music Hall
The oldest grand music hall in the world, Wiltons Music Hall is a venue where you can see the history on the walls. A grade II listed building, Wiltons has been transformed from a derelict warehouse to a thriving venue. With no daylight, fairy lights and candles will create a magical glow.
Dennis Severs House
Located by Spitalfields Market is an 18th century house that feels like it’s frozen in time. Dennis Servers’ House is a ‘still-life drama’ based on the lives of a family of Huguenot silk weavers who lived there. Walk around the house you might still be able to here whispers of their conversations. Scary stuff! With ten unique rooms this is an inspirational setting.
London Dungeons
The crown jewel of London’s scary venues, The London Dungeons is the ultimate scary venue celebrating over 1000 of London’s darkest moments. A dungeon room is the perfect space for a dining experience that will serve up chills down the spine.
The Vaults
Below the grounds at Waterloo you’ll find one of London’s most versatile spaces among the eight arches of The Vaults. With 30,000 sqft space of tunnels and vaults it’s the biggest spooky location with shadows and dark chambers waiting to be explored.
Tanner Warehouse
Stylish brickwork with a urban feel gives Tanner Warehouse is a blank canvas venue that can be vamped up into a dark location. With a great location on lively Bermondsey Street it works well for small to medium sized celebrations. Also has a flexible outdoor courtyard space.
The Electric Cinema
Bring the horror to your guests by watching a scary film with exclusive hire of a cinema. We love the Electric in Notting Hill, a fully refurbished Edwardian cinema with a grade II listed interior that doesn’t hold back on comfort: leather armchairs and cashmere blankets are a given. The bar can provide breakfast, lunch or dinner and stocks everything from local beer to champagne.
The Pavilion at Tower of London
Used as a prison for more than 800 years, housing disgraced figures ranging from kings to spies, the Tower of London is infamous for its gruesome history. Sitting in the shadow of this iconic landmark is The Pavilion, a purpose built event structure which makes the idea space for an atmospheric setting.
The Langham
A luxurious 5 star hotel might not be the obvious location for a spooky setting but behind the grandeur a dark secret lies, as the Langham has the honour of being considered the most haunted hotel in London. Five ghosts make regular appearances with the most active being a German prince who threw himself out of the window of an upper-storey room. There’s also a ghostly butler on the third floor, the ghost of Napoleon III haunting the basement and room 333 has the most sightings.
